FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH
ASSOCIATE PASTOR OF OUTREACH AND WORSHIP First Baptist Church of Topeka, Kansas, is a member of the American Baptist Churches with a regular participation of approximately 400 persons. Topeka is the capital city of Kansas with a population of 125,000 people, and home to one of the fastest growing and highest ranked public universities in the Mid-West, Washburn University. Within the community, First Baptist is well known for the high quality of its traditional worship services, music, children’s arts programs, and daycare. A multi-year renewal effort is underway and as the Church has focused upon its future, a Community Life Center was constructed and a number of successful outreach initiatives have taken shape. A continued period of visioning finds First Baptist recommitting itself to outreach, and transitioning toward a more modern evangelistic culture.
Therefore, First Baptist is seeking an additional full-time member of its pastoral staff to serve as the Associate Pastor of Outreach and Worship. An immediate responsibility for this Pastor will be the creation of a new modern worship service targeting un-churched young adults in Topeka. This service will embrace modern music and technology. Along with the Associate Pastor for Youth and Young Adults, the Associate Pastor of Outreach and Worship will develop and operate successful outreach ministries for this targeted audience. This Pastor will have significant musical ability and the ability to develop a musical team. He/she will report to the Senior Pastor and the Board of Ministries, and will work closely with the Associate Pastor for Youth and Young Adults and the Director of Music.

3. Experienced in leading young adults to Christ, and in the mentoring of them in their faith walk.
4. A person with exceptional communication and organizational ability, and well versed in the use of modern presentational technology.
5. Gifted in the use of creative arts to enhance the worship experience.
6. Someone with significant musical ability and the ability to develop a musical team.
7. Committed to the further development of a successful children’s ministry in the outreach to our targeted audience.
8. Both a team player and team builder.
