TITLE: Minister of Music Calvary Baptist Church
SUPERVISOR: Sr. Pastor and is responsible to the Elder Board of the church
QUALIFICATIONS:
• A heart for the Lord and for those seeking to worship and walk in his ways. A personal sense of the Lord’s call on his/her life and an ongoing and developming relationship with the Lord of that call.
• An attitude and communication style that reflects understanding of servant leadership. Also a teachable and flexible spirit; confident but not arrogant..
• Ability to communicate musical concepts verbally and through notation; ability to teach parts and direct.
• Gifted to be lead keyboardist
• A proven record of faithfulness to a ministry and a proven track record of successful development.
• Prefer an educational background in music and a desire for further education in the areas of worship and music.
• Accepts and appreciates freedom to develop the music ministry
• A team player; wanting to support and encourage other staff and volunteers / willing to explore and move toward membership in the church
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDED BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:
• Overall responsibility to develop music ministry at Calvary that is culturally relevant and excellent. Seek out and encourage growth and participation in the congregation. (All ages) Provide a musical variety to “meet” the diverse context of the congregation and community.
• Lead by example in the magnification of the Lord
• Provide artistic direction and choose music for worship and special services. (Christmas/Good Friday/Easter)
• Prepare for and conduct weekly choir and instrumental rehearsal
• Oversee and develop youth/children’s choir
• Oversee and orchestrate 2 outreach concerts per year
• Manage the maintenance of and improvements to instruments and sound system.
• Seek to provide or make known educational opportunities for musicians and choir
• Provide quarterly reports to Elder Board. (March, June, September, December)
• Meet with Pastor weekly for review and planning.
• Oversee musical aspects of worship budget
