Job Description:
Holy Cross Lutheran Church is seeking a part-time (6-8 hours a week) Contemporary Worship Leader to: provide worship leadership for one of the weekly Sunday morning service (currently 11:00 a.m.); assist with other services as reasonably requested (e.g., Christmas, mid-week Lenten svcs, Holy Week, etc.); identify and recruit volunteer musicians; develop and implement a schedule for musicians; conduct a weekly rehearsal with musicians; work with the Director of Music and the Pastor in the design of the worship service; select music in keeping with the theme of the day or season; maintain a library of resources as appropriate; participate in the bi-monthly Worship and Music Committee meeting; work with and supervise the technical sound team.
Prerequisites for the position include: - Committed Christian beliefs and lifestyle - Familiarity with contemporary Christian music - Ability to lead singing, and to accompany singing on keyboard or guitar - Ability to write, arrange, chart, transpose, and distribute scores as needed - Familiarity with sound equiment - Ability to work in a team environment - Demonstrable leadership qualities enabling the individual to do such things within the worship service as: welcoming worshipers, praying extemporaneously, delivering announcements - Energetic, outgoing personality
