Full Time Minister of Music: Lake Ridge Baptist Church, a 600 member Southern Baptist congregation, is seeking a Minister of Music to lead both contemporary and traditional worship services. Areas of responsibility include planning and leading the music portion of the worship services, preparing the adult choir each week and coordinating children and youth music ministries. PRINCIPLE FUNCTION:
Under the leadership of the Holy Spirit and the supervision of the Pastor, the Minister of Music is to assist the body of Lake Ridge Baptist Church in expressing our love for God through musical worship. In cooperation with the pastoral staff, the Minister of Music is called to lead the overall music program and to equip and shepherd the volunteer music and worship leaders of Lake Ridge Baptist Church. To accomplish this, the Minister of Music is expected to guide, shape and support the worship planning and delivery process in alignment with our purpose and mission.
QUALIFICATIONS
1. Must be a growing Christian committed to deepening his/her personal relationship with Jesus Christ and modeling this to others (1 Timothy 3:1-13).
2. Must be committed to prayer and dedicated to living a life exemplified by Christian principles.
3. Must be gifted in leadership, organization and administration
4. Must be trained and competent in both traditional and contemporary Christian music and experienced in leading worship in both traditional and contemporary styles.
5. Must be able to sight read music and have “SATB-level” competence playing the piano.
6. Must have the ability to teach and train.
7. Must be loyal to the Church and pastoral staff and committed to team playing and building.
8. Must have a college degree (Master of Church Music desired) or equivalent experience.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Provide musical leadership for all worship services and special occasion services
2. Select appropriate hymns and contemporary music for-all worship services and special programs
3. Direct the adult choir
4. Oversee and coordinate visiting groups/artists
5. Oversee the development of choirs, drama teams, and instrumental groups to include music programs and choirs for teens and children.
6. Recruit, train and guide volunteer music leaders and participants in the various music groups
7. Perform various administrative duties associated with the conduct of the music program.
