Youth director part-time position.
Brentwood Presbyterian Church, a theologically diverse congregation in West LA, is searching for a part-time director for the Junior and Senior High program on Sunday nights, working with adult volunteers and planning special events. 25 hours per week. Part-time Youth Director
A. Characteristics
1. On a continuing personal spiritual journey and integrate personal faith in God in the program.
2. Fun - ability to minister to youth in fun and varied fashions.
3. Positive role model-someone youth can look up to and emulate.
4. Creative- ability to develop new programs/ activities and to stimulate existing ones.
5. Team player -ability to work with youth, adults, Committee, staff.
B. Core Responsibilities
1. Develop a relational ministry with Middle and High School youth.
a. Develop individual caring relationships with BPC youth.
b. Minister to the needs of students in a setting of friendship and caring. As possible, be available to youth in times of personal crisis or other emergency.
2. Provide leadership and vision to the Middle and High school youth.
a. Direct and lead the ongoing senior high youth programs including weekly meetings on Sunday evenings.
b. Supervise and guide the junior high youth intern in
the development and management of the junior high program.
C. Coordinate and lead/participate in outreach programs, retreats, camps, etc.
e. Lead the summer SALT (Summer Action Leadership Team)
providing education, guidance and mentoring for up to six high school summer interns.
f. Participate as a leader in confirmation classes.
g. Mentor and equip Youth sponsors/ group leaders.
h. Manage the youth program budget.
C. Key Skills Required
1. The ability to build a personal loving relationship with youth.
2. Leadership and expertise in program development.
3. Recruiting, developing and managing an active and cohesive volunteer advisor team.
4. Develop lessons and teach young people.
5. Manage staff and lead the volunteer Youth Committee with elder and pastor.
6. Creative, flexible problem solver.
D. Minimum Qualifications
1. Proven Youth ministry leadership experience.
2. Bachelor’s degree.
3. Biblical knowledge, must adhere to PC(USA) teaching and theology.
E. BPC Organization
1. The Youth Director reports to the Associate Pastor.
2. The Youth Director manages a half-time intern.
3. Part-time position, 25 hours per week.
