Position Description: the Director of Student Ministries (DSM) will develop a ministry to youth and college-age adults which follows the vision of Trinity Church, which is to worship the Lord, love one another, and serve God and his people, following his Word and Spirit while honoring the traditions of Anglican Christianity, thereby leading others into fellowship with Jesus Christ and His Church and nurturing their spiritual growth.

Specifically, the DSM will:

1. grow youth spiritually, which will be reflected in their beliefs, attitudes, and actions
2. grow the active attendance at Refuge from the present 40 to 100 in two years
3. nurture a team of youth leaders, one for every 20 active youth, by
a. separate, carefully planned monthly meetings for teaching and prayer
b. selecting leaders from all sectors of the county’s schools
c. encouraging the youth leaders to teach the others on a regular basis
4. increase opportunities for fun and service by planning a monthly event for same
5. plan an annual short-term mission trip for service and/or evangelism
6. recruit and nurture adult sponsors, one for every ten active youth, by
a. selecting parents from all sectors of the county
b. meeting quarterly with the adult sponsors for prayer, training, feedback
c. encouraging them to assist with the weekly ministries and occasional trips
7. plan semi-monthly activities just for boys
8. visit all county middle and senior high schools at least once a month for lunch
9. hold a fall and a spring retreat off campus for spiritual growth and fun
10. serve as staff liaison to and support for acolytes and acolyte directors
11. teach senior high Sunday School
12. meet with college-age adults for fellowship on holidays
13. plan and lead youth confirmation class

Expectations: the DSM will work and live in these ways:
1. maintain a close personal relationship with Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior
2. model his family life in a Christian fashion
3. be accountable to his supervisor in Discipleship Ministries on a weekly basis
4. meet weekly with the pastoral staff for prayer and planning
5. meet weekly with the Asst for Student Ministries for prayer and planning
6. report as requested to the Discipleship Ministry Group
7. publish quarterly a schedule of events and program newsletter for parents/youth
8. publicize youth events and leadership to the parish and diocese
9. steward carefully youth ministry resources (building, equipment, ma
