Director of Contemporary Worship

Part TimeWe are beginning a contemporary worship service as our community is a booming suburb of Birmingham, AL. We are growing mostly in young families and have a young pastoral team. This position includes leadership over a weekly contemporary worship service called "Grace Vision" which is held at 11:00 AM.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Passion to serve Christ through music and worship leadership
2. Knowledge and proficiency in a variety of musical styles
3. Musical proficiency in instrumental (keyboard and/or guitar) and vocals
Transposition, scoring, arranging, ear training
4. Ability to lead a congregation in singing and worship
5. Ability to empower both trained musicians and unskilled people in music
6. Ability to recruit and train teams for music ministry
7. Baccalaureate degree in music desirable but not required
8. Basic knowledge of easy worship (basic computer skills)
9. Basic understanding of United Methodism
10. Basic understanding of copyright laws related to worship music
11. Experience in music direction, program design, and implementation in
Contemporary worship setting in a multiple staff church
12. Proficiency in technical aspects of worship (sound set up)
13. Ability to work with staff and laity as part of a large church staff

JOB DESCRIPTION:
Sunday Morning Contemporary Service - "GraceVision"
1. Lead music and worship for contemporary service
2. Direct all technical aspects of sound, lighting, video, etc. affecting
GraceVision
3. Plan music for worship
• Find music appropriate to the theme Scripture and congregation
• Plan and organize rehearsals, score and arrange music as needed
• Learn and teach instrumental and vocal parts
4. Recruit, teach and lead instrumental and vocal groups
• Lead existing band of musicians and cultivate new members & bands
• Recruit and lead a chorus of adult and youth singers
5. Work with assigned pastor to plan creative worship
• Put together weekly bulletin and basic media for service
• Participate in regular planning retreats to plan worship 3+ months
ahead
6. Be available for special services for congregation as needed
Christmas, Lent, Fellowship Activities, etc.
7. Work with Worship Committee/Team to plan creative worship
Also, consider working with the youth praise team in either training or leading worship on Wednesdays at 6:30 pm
