Position Title: YOUTH PASTOR
GENERAL:
The Youth Pastor is a full-time position on the pastoral team. The Youth Pastor directs the planning and development of programs and budgets for junior and senior high youth ministries and coordinates the college and career ministry. He sets the direction for these ministries in coordination with the Elders, youth workers and parents. The junior and senior high ministry includes students, adult leaders and parents of the students. The college and career ministry includes individuals from the ages 18-25 roughly.CONTEXT:
Green Pond Bible Chapel has a “Purpose-Driven” ministry to students. The current youth ministry is working effectively; it does not need fixing but rather to become better. The objectives of our youth ministries are:
1. To develop healthy, Godly leader relationships and leader/youth relationships with the youth of our church and surrounding communities.
2. To model and encourage a desire to Worship our Triune God by example.
3. To train the youth to serve at our church and outside church service opportunities.
4. To plant seeds to grow healthy Christian relationships, marriages, and families by example and coordinated educational programs, both in Sunday school and regular youth group meetings.
5. To equip the youth of Green Pond Bible Chapel to witness to their friends and family and to have the confidence to stand up for their faith in a fallen world.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Fulfillment of the spiritual qualifications for a pastor (I Timothy 3:1-7).
2. An unreserved commitment to the doctrinal statement of Green Pond Bible Chapel.
3. Evidence of a call and a passion for youth ministry.
4. Verifiable ministry experience with students. Preferably with 3 years experience as a full time Youth Pastor at another church(es).
5. Current in youth trends and issues, within the church and society, including but not limited to family and social issues, physical issues, music and culture trends.
6. Demonstrate proficient interpersonal skills in working with youth and adult leaders.
7. Prepared for youth ministry with a degree in a youth related ministry area.
8. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with the pastoral staff, Elders, Deacon of Youth, adult youth workers, parents and youth.
9. Willingness to commit to the youth ministries long term at Green Pond Bible Chapel.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Develop and implement with the ministry leaders new and creative ministry programs and methods that will enhance the level of effectiveness in this area of ministry.
2. To lead, teach, disciple, mentor, and provide resources and counsel youth and adult leaders.
3. Attend junior and senior high youth ministries during the week and facilitate the junior and senior high Sunday school curriculum.
4. Prepare, coordinate, and attend retreats, mission’s trips and special events.
5. Create opportunities for evangelism
