Centerville Presbyterian Church is located in Fremont, in the San Francisco East Bay Area – north of San Jose and south of Oakland - one of the most beautiful yet secular and diverse areas of our country. CPC is a theologically conservative and broadly evangelical congregation, clinging to the essential doctrines of the Christian faith and positioning to be actively involved in the community. The church works to have a balance between worship and service and between the nurture of our members and the reaching out to those who do not know Jesus Christ. Within this context, we are currently looking for an outgoing, committed and creative individual who loves the challenge of growing a ministry, but most importantly loves to lead God’s people in upbeat contemporary worship.
As the Assistant Director of Worship, with specific responsibilities in contemporary worship services, this person must have a passionate faith in Jesus Christ along with strong skills in music, leadership and organization and be a people-oriented team builder. They must also have a working knowledge of technical aspects related to the worship ministry (sound, lighting, video editing, worship software, media). The candidate must have a strong singing ability, be very proficient in either guitar or keyboard and have a relaxed, natural stage presence. Above all they should be gifted in leading people into God’s presence through worship.
Specific responsibilities will include: 1. Developing and facilitating a weekly evening contemporary worship service targeting youth and young singles/young marrieds a. Recruit, develop, lead and shepherd the worship band for this service. b. Purchase and oversee staging, lighting, sound and video systems for this service (held onsite in the Centre Gymnasium) c. Have full responsibility for, but work with Pastoral Staff and Director of Worship on, all areas of the evening service including but not limited to: format, logistics, technical and fellowship aspects 2. Collaborate with the Director of Worship in planning and leading the Sunday morning contemporary service. 3. Attend Worship Committee meetings and other planning meetings as needed 4. Stay current with and integrate into the evening service the latest trends in contemporary worship. Stay fresh. 5. Attend church-related functions as a way to network within the congregation 6. Other responsibilities assigned by Session, Pastor, Director of Worship, and/or Worship Committee 7. Lead worship for junior high and high school meetings and events).
