Posting for Director of Music & Worship

Desired Start Date: January 2006In cooperation with the pastoral staff, the Director of Music & Worship is called to lead, equip and shepherd the music and worship leaders of Heritage Christian Church, and to guide, shape and support the worship planning and delivery process in alignment with our purpose and mission: “To Bring spiritual seekers into a personal relationship with Jesus, to Build believers into dedicated followers and servant leaders, and to Bless our global community and each other than God might receive glory.”
The primary focus of this position is to maintain and continue to develop a broad platform of music and worship styles, venues and opportunities for involvement, leadership development and service, such as:
• Children’s church, including involvement in worship services and special events
• Youth worship events
• Worship services, including worship team, soloists, ensembles (men, women, mixed)
• Choir, including adult and teens (up to 150+ participants)
• Special Events (e.g., Christmas, Easter, Renewal Services, Retreats, Conferences)
Primary responsibilities include:
• Administration of the music and worship ministry of Heritage.
• Communications and actions that draw, mobilize, network and engage ministry participants.
• Shepherding and leadership accountability and development for ministry team leaders and individual contributors.
• Appropriate use and incorporation of music (variety of styles), drama, and multimedia/visual/electronic arts (including sound/lighting, video, PowerPoint) into the worship experience.
Requirements include the following (further information to be provided in an interview):
• Mature, growing disciple of Jesus Christ with a servant’s heart.
• Clear calling to pastor, shepherd and develop leaders and participants of a growing ministry.
• If married: strong, Christ-centered, stable family relationships. If single: demonstrated ability to develop and maintain strong, Christ-centered, stable relationships.
• Superior communication skills with demonstrated ability to resolve conflict.
• Master’s Degree in Music or equivalent knowledge and experience; above average musical and artistic abilities.
• Ability to arrange vocal and instrumental (orchestral and worship band) scores or charts.
• Team player and enthusiastic supporter of all other areas of ministry within the church.
• Ability to lead worship is strongly preferred.
