The mission of Children's Ministry is to reach out to children with the message of Christ's unconditional love, guiding them to grow into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ nurturing in them a heart to serve.
Purpose:
In keeping with the above mission statement, the Director of Children's Ministry (DCM), leads, equips and empowers all children's ministry paid and volunteer staff. The DCM is responsible for the oversight and direction of all teaching, discipleship, mission and outreach programs, nursery through 5th grade.
Position Responsibilities: Full Time
Develop and implement a strategic discipleship plan for Nursery through 5th grade.
Direct Children's Ministry Sunday morning program, be on site and visible
Direct (or delegate direction of) related children's ministries such as summer programs, midweek programs, children's Christmas program, etc.
Curriculum selection and/or development
Integrate evangelistic, worship, and mission components
Continual evaluation of staff and programs
Design, establish, and maintain an organizational structure.
Recruit, train, supervise and mentor paid staff and volunteer leaders who have a passion for shepherding and discipling children.
Develop and administrate the Children's Ministry budget.
Is the key communicator of Children's Ministry to the congregation.
Work effectively with the church-wide Program Staff team to develop and implement unified ministries
Oversee the weekday Preschool
Serve as an active member of the Preschool Council
Ensure the integration of the Preschool into the broader vision of the church
Supervise preschool directors
Develop and maintain appropriate safety and security guidelines including criminal background checks, training on health issues and procedures to insure the safety of all children and staff.
Minimum Education & Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education, Christian Education (or related discipline) plus 3-5 years church experience OR Bachelor's Degree and over 10 years church experience (church experience must be directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified herein).
